
In the autumn of 1918 Dennis Gabor became the student of the Royal Technical Joseph Univerity, today known as the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
His professors were the mathematician József Kürschák, who became the Full Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1914; Sándor Rejtő, who was the first to obtain mechanical engineer degree at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics;
Ödön K. Jónás, who was the first mechanical engineer who became president at the university.

Ignác Pfeifer was also the professor of Dennis Gabor during the university years. In 1922 he was the head of the research laboratory of the Tungsram company.
